Weah was selected as the African Player of the Year in 1989, 1994, and 1995. In 1995, he also received European Player of the Year and World Player of the Year honors. This was the only time all three awards have been won by an African competitor.
The Ashanti maintained the Golden Stool as their most prized possession. Before they went to war, their war chiefs consulted it. As time progressed and as the Ashanti scored more victories over their rivals, turning their kingdom into an empire, the Golden Stool became even more revered.
The enslaved wreaked havoc on the region, set plantations on fire as they marched towards New Orleans, and recruited additional enslaved, while white residents fled to the city of New Orleans or the backwoods nearer their plantations.
